Day Three...

I went kayaking a couple weeks ago for a Grand Traverse Woman assignment.  Mary and Susan of Paddle Away, LLC were kind enough to take me and Leann (the writer) on a sunset tour.  We launched on a calm evening off of Bower's Harbor public launch.  We had spent all day wondering if the weather would hold up.  It did.

I wish every night I had the opportunity such as this.  Awesome kayaks, great guides, amazing scenery and calm water so I didn't have to worry about my camera gear.  I actually threw it in the boat, sans waterproof stuff sacks.  What can I say, I like easy access to my gear and living on the edge!

While paddling, Mary paused to prop her feet up on her kayak and gaze upward at the sky.  The clouds, she exclaimed, were incredible on this particular evening.  I agreed.  Which is why I'm not even going to post a photo of water or kayak details.  I need the clouds tonight to inspire me.

It's been a long day and these clouds bring me back to an evening when I remembered why I became a photographer.  No, I didn't become a photographer because of clouds.  But I became a photographer because I wanted to capture those moments that overtake us and do it well enough so that one is overtaken again through my photograph/s.  It's as simple as that.
